About Aurora Lake

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Our mission is to provide compassionate, evidence-based mental health care in a calm, welcoming environment. We guide individuals through their unique journeys toward clarity, connection and hope, empowering them with tools to thrive emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

Our Story

We all long for lives rooted in connection, strength, and a sense of belonging.  Mental health is not just the absence of pain, but the presence of hope, resilience and community.  Yet for so many, that journey feels isolating and heavy.  The vision behind this clinic was born from a belief that every person deserves a place where they can be fully seen, supported and reminded that healing is possible.  We hope to be part of a larger movement toward positive change in how we care for ourselves and each other.

For us, this mission is personal.  All of us become therapists for a deeply personal reason, and we are no exception.  This clinic carries forward both memories of those we have lost, and hope for those who are still here.  By creating a safe, compassionate space, we hope to be part of a larger movement toward positive change in how we care for ourselves and each other.

Our Core Values

  • Compassion: We meet every client with empathy, understanding and unconditional positive regard.

  • Calm: Our therapeutic space is designed to promote a sense of emotional and physical peace, helping clients feel safe and grounded.

  • Growth: We support meaningful change by fostering resilience, self-discovery, and personal development.

  • Inclusivity: We support all clients as their authentic selves.

  • Clarity: We help clients gain insignt into their experiences, behaviors, and patterns to make empowered, informed choices.

  • Connection: We prioritize authentic relationships, both within therapy and in helping clients build stronger, inclusive connections in their lives.

  • Hope: We believe in each client’s capacity to heal and grow, and we hold hope even when they cannot yet see it for themselves.

Introducing Jill

Jill has been working in Mental Health for over 25 years.  As an experienced, EMDR trained, trauma-informed therapist and dual-licensed mental and chemical health clinician.  With experience as a school counselor, she brings a deep understanding of child/family theory and educational systems.  She holds a Master of Science in Counseling and Student personnel from Minnesota State University, Mankato and earned her Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) credential with an additional graduate certificate through St. Mary's University of Minnesota.

In December of 2020, she joined Ellie Mental Health (now Sagent) as a dual-licensed (LPCC/LADC) therapist.  She was also trained in complex family systems, EMDR, Anchored Relational Model (formerly AIR Network) and successfully completed the "Ellie Leads" curriculum.  Ms. Salo is currently a MN board approved supervisor and currently focuses on those who have been the victims of trauma.

Jill has decided to transition into her own practice at Aurora Lake Mental Health to help those struggling build lives that are stronger, fuller and more authentic.  Here, you're encouraged to show up exactly as you are-with courage, curiosity, and compassion for yourself.  Jill's hope is that you feel supported, understood and confident as you move forward on your journey.
